It started raining as we went to bed last night, around 11pm, continued all through the night and is still raining now, 11.30am.  We had initially thought we would walk to Krun to see the cows brought down from the mountains but decided to take the car.  Wrong! all access roads from the main road, B2, were closed and we spent half an hour, backwards and forwards, trying to find an alternative way into Krun.  No joy, so back to the caravan to wait for the rain to ease then we will walk there.  It's only 2.5km so about half an hours walk.

Well, it's almost 1pm and the rain continues so we've decided to eat here and pop out to the shops this afternoon to stock up prior to leaving tomorrow.

I found a couple of sites online, one in Freiburg, where we may stop for a couple of nights, again we've been there some years ago when we holidayed at Titisee-Neustadt. The second is in Troyes, somewhere we've not been to.  We may spend up to 6 nights there before making our way to Calais on the Sunday ready for our journey home on Monday.  Have enjoyed Germany but looking forward to a week or so in France.

In the afternoon the rain stopped and the sun put in a half hearted appearance.  We decided we would do as planned and walk to Krun in the hope of seeing something of the cows decent.

In the end we saw very little of the event, just a few stragglers making their voices heard in the bars and cafes there, but we did get a good walk in.  Had our pedometers on this time which gave us a reading of just under 5 miles by the time we returned.

The picture here is representative of most of the houses, many of which are guest houses although some are just dwellings.

Just coming into Krun and the weather looks like it's taking a turn for the worse.

Fortunately the clouds passed over and left us with a little sun but cool at just 8 degrees.

Back by 4pm then a steaming hot shower in one of the best shower blocks we've ever experienced. A shower room to yourself with unlimited hot water at a pressure that could shave you.

An early night tonight as we're off to Freiburg tomorrow.
