Wednesday 20th September 2017

After a good nights sleep we woke to a beautiful sunny day.  Although a chilly 10 degrees at first, it was nice to see a clear blue sky.  Yesterdays drive had seen a mixture of bright sun and heavy downpours and it was good now to be able to sit outside and drink our morning coffee.

Both hungry, we decided on one of my, now famous, mushroom omelettes.  Along with fresh ground coffee, a good way to start the day.

A quiet morning, we are going to walk into the centre of the city this afternoon.

Our walk into Troyes centre was fascinating.  Just half a mile from the site and we were among buildings erected in the 16th century, very like Stratford on Avon, but in colour.

Surprised, though not alarmed, we saw armed soldiers patrolling the streets as we sat sipping our coffees.  France has had its share of terrorist attacks and it must be reassuring to residents and tourists alike to see the security forces in evidence.
